Squamish Days are Here Again!

This weekend marks the 53rd annual return of Squamish Days Logger Sports 2010! Starting with the “Into the Woods” art exhibit on Thursday July 29th and running through to Sunday August 1st, there will be an entire buffet of family-friend events and activities throughout Squamish.
The Squamish Days Loggers Sports festival celebrates Squamish’s forestry history with competitions and exhibitions of strength, skill and stamina in activities such as tree climbing, axe throwing, and birling. Squamish Logger Days attracts visitors and competitors from around the world.
Other activities during this three-day extravaganza include a parade, the Squamish Days 10 K Run, Loggers Stomp dance, Squamish Marketplace and the Rotary Club’s famous barbecue.
The main competition events take place just off the downtown core at the Al McIntosh Squamish Logger Sports Grounds, starting at 1:30 pm. On Saturday, the novice and intermediate categories compete in a variety of events. Admission is FREE! On Sunday, international professional World Class competitors show how it’s done, starting at 1:30 pm SHARP.

Friday
- Chair Carving contest at 3 pm in the parking lot of the Squamish Station Mall.
- Bed Races happen at 7 pm downtown on Cleveland Avenue.
- Axe Throwing competition at 7:30 pm in the parking lot of Chances Boardwalk casino.
Saturday
- Novice and Intermediate Logger’s Sports Competition: FREE admission! 1:30 pm at the Al McIntosh Squamish Logger Sports Grounds.
- Farmer’s Market, downtown on Cleveland Ave next to Pavillion Park, from 10 am to 3 pm.
- Logger’s Stomp dance at the Ocean Port Hotel.
Sunday
- Elks Logger’s Breakfast from 7 am (early bird pricing until 8:30 am) to 11 am at the Mackenzie Plaza, downtown Squamish.
- Squamish Days 10 km Run and Flashback Mile- both races start from Howe Sound Secondary, the first at 8:30 am, and the other at 8:45 am.
- World-Class Open Loggers Sports Show – the pros strut their stuff at the Loggers Grounds starting at 1:30 pm sharp!
- After Glow BBQ at the Ocean Port Hotel starts at 4:30 pm.
