Giddyup Y’all! The May Long Weekend is Here!

Well, after an entire winter of waiting (well, for some of you, anyway), the Official Kickstart to Summer is Here- the May Long Weekend.

So, TECH-nically it’s still springtime. But in our hearts, this long weekend really is the launch of the summer season.

Skiing and snowboarding give way to mountain biking and hiking. Snowmobiles get put away and the dirtbikes and ATVs come out. And, of course, the roads are littered with cars hauling brand new toys jostling alongside road bikers with pasty calves and shiny spandex, stretching their legs after a winter of…well, probably biking.

Alright, so the point is THIS is the OFFICIAL WEEKEND to SWITCH SEASONAL SPORTS – even if you’ve been flirting with your warmer recreational objects of affection for the past few weeks, the May Long Weekend is the RECOGNIZED  Leisure Activity Launchpoint equivalent to Easter’s fashion benchmark (You know- white pants, summer sandals and spring colours, etc).

And the long weekend also reawakens the URGE TO ROADTRIP!

So, my fellow Sea to Sky residents, why not head north and check out the Lillooet Lake Rodeo this weekend in Mount Currie- May 19, 20, and 21 at the Rodeo Grounds. Start time at 1 pm daily.

There’ll be a parade, bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, roping, pie eating, and all sorts of cool things that I guaratee you WEREN’T doing all winter long.

(Okay, except the pie eating… I did do an awful lot of that this winter!)

Remember: Summer is here. It’s time to shake things up a little. Go new places. Try new things. Mix it up. And – above all-  have a great time!!
