Locals gazing upwards at the beautiful snow-capped mountains are starting to twitch… Snow tires have been put on the vehicles. Skis and snowboards are being tuned and waxed, and the snow gear is being returned to the easy-access areas of the house. Which can only mean….
Opening Day is almost here.
And with that in mind…
Rumours are afloat of an Early Opening of Whistler-Blackcomb. Whistler Mountain will be open on November 18th. This Friday. Seriously.
Both Whistler Village Gondola and the Creekside Gondola are expected to be open, whisking riders away to early season paradise. Blackcomb Mountain will open November 24th.
Of course, there is no CONFIRMED advertising or public announcements in place. But for those of us who have friends in the right places, the word is out. And unless there is a sudden spike of warm weather, or a cruel rain storm that reaches all the way up into the alpine to wash all that glorious whitestuff away..then this weekend might be the time to christen all of that turkey gear you’ve been fondling for the past several weeks. Well, not the new skis/snowboards…time to break out the rock equipment as it IS a soft opening after all, and who knows how the coverage of the ski-outs will be… But STILL! The Season is upon us!
So, here’s a quick reminder of some valuable information:
